Description
VodaSeal™-SCB (soil, cement, bentonite) is a high-swelling natural bentonite with no polymer added. In contact with water it forms a semi-solid, gel-like mass that adds a hydraulic barrier to the soil mix, and the finished structure becomes more stable. It is used in trench cut-off walls, dam lining and pond lining. It comes in two forms, sized granule (graded lumps) and powder, to suit the project's specification and your mixing plant.

What is VodaSeal™-SCB?
VodaSeal™-SCB (soil, cement, bentonite) is a high-swelling natural bentonite that contains no polymer additive. It forms a semi-solid, gel-like mass on contact with water and adds a hydraulic barrier to the soil mix. Its application areas are trench cut-off walls, dam lining and pond lining.
What is soil-cement-bentonite?
A barrier material made by blending site soil with cement and bentonite: the cement gives strength and self-hardening, the bentonite the low permeability. It is used for cut-off walls where both strength and a hydraulic barrier are needed. A soil-bentonite wall leaves the cement out.
Granule or powder: which form for lining and which for the slurry wall?
Neither form is tied to one job: the sized granule and the powder both serve lining and cut-off walls. The difference is particle size: the sized granule is graded lumps, the powder is finely ground. Pick the form that suits your specification and your mixing plant.
How tight is the finished barrier?
Permeability goes down to 4.9×10−10 m/s for the sized granule and 10−8 m/s for the powder. The finished wall depends on your soil and mix design, and saline water or ground changes the result, so tell us if your site is saline.
Does VodaSeal™-SCB contain any polymer?
No. It is a high-swelling natural bentonite and contains no polymer additive. That matters where a specification excludes synthetic additives from the barrier.
How much VodaSeal™-SCB goes into the mix?
There is no fixed addition rate: the bentonite content of a soil-bentonite or soil-cement-bentonite mix is set by the project's own mix design and the soil it is cut from, not by the product. Send the mix design or the specification and we will quote against it.
Which test methods and standards apply?
Free swelling is tested to ASTM D5890 in both forms. Permeability is measured by the falling-head method for the sized granule, and as a coefficient after 7 days for the powder. Made under an ISO 9001:2015 quality system.
